“People who live through traumatic experiences are called survivors.
People who love and support people who live through traumatic experiences are co survivors.
They need all the care and support that a survivor needs.
If they don’t get it, they run the risk of burning out, dropping out, and tuning out.
If we want to change the world, we need change agents to know how to receive care.”
This quote is from “Burnout: Solve Your Stress Cycle” written by sisters Emily and Amelia Nagoski
This idea stood out to me as often the focus, care and support is given to the survivors of traumatic events. As survivors, let’s not forget to give love, support and gratitude to our team who helped form us into the person we are and as co survivors, remember to take time, seek help, communicate openly, your needs and health are just as important. It is not selfish to need care.
