The Power Of Perspective

Let me set the scene

It was the stormiest day I had ever experienced. There has been warnings all over the news advising people to stay home and I had been outside working in the weather since 3am.

I was cold.

I was wet.

I was just trying not to be blown away 🤣

I had only one task left before I could escape home to my bed and pup, but it was sweeping.

I tunneled my vision and set to sweeping just one line at a time while growing more frustrated at the wind and barely holding my shit together.

While angrily pushing my hair out of my eyes for the hundredth time and mouthing some unpleasantries, a coworker calmly stated how thrilled I must be with the wind. “Why on earth would I be thrilled?” I spat.

“Well you only have to do half the work” he said motioning to the other half of the concrete that I hadn’t yet started. He was right, the wind had blown all the dust, hay, and debris onto one side, halving my workload. The truth is, I was so zoned in on the nitty gritty, on the negative mindset however had I stepped back and looked at the bigger picture, I would have had a much more positive outlook. And that is the power of perspective
